About Bishop Dinis:

Bishop Dinis was born in 1946. After conscription in the Portuguese army he trained for the priesthood at Salisbury Theological College. Ordained deacon at 27 and priest at 28, he was consecrated a suffragan bishop at the age of 30 and became Diocesan bishop at 31 - the first African bishop of the diocese. On 25 March 2006 he celebrated the 30th anniversary of his consecration as Bishop.

He was awarded the All Africa Council of Churches Peace Prize for his work in establishing peace and reconciliation after the long civil war (1992). He was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George for his work in developing Anglo-Mozambique relations and the Cross of St Augustine by the Archbishop of Canterbury for his service to the Anglican Communion.

Sadly, his wife Berta was killed in a road accident at Zove in 1998. He has three sons and one daughter.
