Consecration of the Bishops of Angola and Niassa

The Bishop of Kensington, representing the Diocese of London, shared in the consecration of the new bishops of Angola and Niassa (Mozambique) on 14 September 2003 in the newly built Church of the Resurrection in Wattville (a township of Johannesburg), part of the Highveld Diocese.

The church was packed full for the consecration of the first bishop of Angola and the third bishop of Niassa. Bishop Dinis preached the sermon and included a tribute to the mothers and wives of the two new bishops.

Three Bishops

From left to right they are the Bishop of Angola, the Rt Revd André Soares; the Bishop of Kensington, the Rt Revd Michael Colclough; and the Bishop of Niassa, the Rt Revd Mark van Koevering. The newly consecrated bishops are wearing identical pectoral crosses given to them by the Diocese of London.

The joy of the consecrations was matched by the joy of the installations in Luanda on 28 September 2003 and in Messumba on 12 October 2003.
