It is with great sorrow we share news of the unexpected and untimely death of Goodwin Mnyawa early this morning in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Paolo Chintinguiza who worked closely with Goodwin and is in charge of projects in Niassa Diocese wrote
“Two weeks ago Mr Goodwin was sent by the company to do marketing in Malawi and started sick while he was there and today early in the morning died. We have lost our headmaster of the school and he was also vice church warden. The burial will take place at Nkhotakota in Malawi. Really we are shocked with his sudden death. May is soul rest in peace.”
Richard Ennals, ALMA Rep at All Saints Church Hampton, which is twinned with All Saints Church Nacala writes
“Goodwin Mnyawa had achieved so much for the church and the school, as well as for the company. Goodwin will be almost impossible to replace. He linked the worlds of business, church and education, and was clearly a local leader... He took the vitality of Mozambique with him to India, and returned with fresh and ambitious ideas for the future. His family and friends, and the parishioners of Todos Santos, are in our prayers.”
Within ALMA we were thrilled that Goodwin had begun to contribute to our email circulars and share the passion of the Nacala church to reach out and serve its community. One of Goodwin’s dreams was the possibility of a health dispensary attached to the church. We will feel his loss keenly.
We remember Father Mateus Ntiko, priest at Todos Santos Nacala, his congregation and the school community in our prayers as well as Edward Betham School in Greenford twinned with Nacala school and the new international friendships forged through the Lucknow trip and Ray of Hope.
We thank God for Goodwin’s life. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
