Exciting Times in the ALMA Partnership

Revd Vicente Msossa
Revd Vicente Msossa

We heard from the Provincial (ACSA) Synod of Bishops in South Africa that a new Bishop of Niassa has been elected. We send our warm congratulations to Revd Vicente Msossa the new Bishop elect. Revd Vicente is currently priest at Sao Paolo Lichinga twinned with St Paul’s Old Ford. He trained at the College of the Transfiguration in Grahamstown, has been ordained for three years and is 35 years old. Please hold Vicente, his wife Anastacia, and their children Andrason, Ebenezer and Omegarda in your prayers as they prepare for this new call on their lives.

Please pray too for the Niassa team in this time of transition especially Vicar General Bishop Manuel, Diocesan Secretary, and Diocesan Board, Director of Mission.

Thanks to Bishop Carlos Matsinhe for sharing a flavour of the Synod’s worship with us – see on our facebook page (Please ‘Like’ us as you view!).

A must watch from Synod is a wonderful film  ANCHORED IN THE LOVE OF CHRIST about the ministry, mission and vision of the ACSA -with glimpses of faith in action across the 28 Dioceses and six countries including a visit of theological students from the College of the Transfiguration to Maciene and Nhamavila in Lebombo Diocese, and an interview with Bishop Carlos.

Please set aside 20 minutes and be encouraged in your faith!

Meanwhile in Angola …

At the CICA Conference
Bishop André at the CICA Conference

… Bishop André has been taking part in the very significant CICA (Council of Christian Churches in Angola) National Conference on the Role of the Church in the Fight Against Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Improved Maternal and Child Health and Strengthening of National Health systems.

This article from the Anglican Justice and Peace Network gives an insight into why it is so important.

It is special for us that the Niassan model of Equipas da Vida is being presented at the conference.

And in London: ALMA MEETING Tuesday 18 October

Please join us in the Main Hall at Diocesan House at 5.40 pm for light refreshments before the meeting from 6-7.45pm. We’ll hear from a first visit to a new twin parish; a return visit to Maciene School & the Interfaith Centre’s festival of non-violence featuring a Lebombo sculpture.

All welcome. Look forward to seeing you.
