Kubatsirana Volunteers

Kubatsirana (meaning ‘help each other’) is an Ecumenical Christian Association based in Chimoio, a town in north-central Mozambique in the Diocese of Lebombo. It was created by the local churches in 1995 to help reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and to alleviate its consequences.

Staff and volunteers at Kubatsirana all work to build capacity within the churches and local communities by holding Awareness Days, which focus on prevention, home-based care of orphans, youth outreach, micro-economic projects and support activities for people living with HIV/AIDS. Kubatsirana is becoming very well known in Mozambique.

Kubatsirana received £10,000 from the Diocese of London’s Lent Appeal in 2003. Communication was very straightforward via email and in February 2005 the organisation sent these super pictures.
