[Source: Church Times - August 2021]

The Church Times has reported that the proposed new province of the Anglican Church for Angola and Mozambique has been formally approved by the Anglican Communion. The Dioceses in the two countries are currently part of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa.

The new province will be known as Igreja Anglicana de Moçambique e Angola (IAMA), or the Anglican Church of Mozambique and Angola.

The new province is expected to hold its first Synod in September, and there will be an inauguration service on 24 September. ALMA understands that the first Archbishop, and the first Dean of the Province, will be elected in January 2022 and inaugurated in February 2022.
