The parish of St Mary the Virgin in Harmondsworth has been sending monetary gifts to the parish of St Andrew’s in Liguirine (Inhambane Province) for many years. This year they are making a big effort to enhance the link and have sent a parish profile and photos out to Mozambique. Photos and news have also been received from Liguirine.

Parishioners were delighted to hear that Bishop Dinis could visit them on Saturday 1 August, during his short time in London before heading west to Swindon, Wells and Bristol. They gave Bishop Dinis a very fine welcome in their church hall and enjoyed showing him around the church.

Bishop Dinis was very relaxed, having just spent holiday time in Sweden with his daughter and son-in-law, Fidélia and Johan, and his first grandchild , Alexandre. He especially enjoyed a pub lunch in the village before taking the Heathrow Express rail link to Paddington.

I am sure this happy visit will greatly encourage the parishioners in developing their parish link with Liguirine.
