We had a very successful ALMA Reps meeting in April and were pleased to welcome David Vander Meulen, father of Rebecca (director of Mission in Niassa) who was briefly in London from America, as we
A huge thank you to Nikkita Roberts, Sarah Warren and the St Mary’s Stoke Newington Tete team. We had an unsurpassed ALMA Reps meeting with: NIkkita's poems written in response to her visit to Lichinga; a song from Sarah as she presented us with a cheque from her concert ‘Canto da ALMA’, and more song from the St Mary’s Tete team - the one they took to Tete ‘Journey with me for the road is long’ and the one they brought home - a setting of the Gloria – that they continue to use in church.
We really did have the music and dance! Our partners would have been proud of us.
Members of the Stoke Newington Team shared different aspects of their visit to, and relationship with, their link church as well as some background to the Tête area. They really enjoyed Morning Prayer and were struck by the number of children, many of whom were supported by the church. Another key aspect was the generous hospitality shown to them throughout and church growth - the catechist was starting new congregations.
After the joyful singing from St Mary’s and almost being brought to tears by Nikkita’s poems, we left the meeting feeling thoroughly moved and uplifted. A very special evening.
